3 of 3: After going on a temporary vegetarian, low-carb, high-fiber diet, I lost 20 lbs. in 3 months through weight training and walks.

I learned that I could stop taking insulin with weight loss and diet changes. With my endocrinologist supervising my progress, I have been injection-free since summer 2021 and have naturally healed my pancreas through intermittent fasting and lifestyle changes.

Donating blood is like a "system reset" for my body. It reduces extra iron that can cause oxidative stress on the pancreas, which helps my cells become more receptive to insulin.

I don't know my blood type yet, and I look forward to learning what it is! As a woman, I can donate again in 3 months. By helping others, I am also helping my own body stay in balance. It is an act of self-respect.

Will you check if you are eligible to donate? Your "liquid gold" could be the miracle someone else is praying for today. Book here: https://www.blood.ca/en

Lightening the mood ‘coz I can. Which Renaissance child most represents you RN? I’m fasting all day so I’m vacillating between 4 and 7 😅

Joni as a pup.
This was taken when she was 7 weeks old. It was possibly taken the day we got her.
