Fiona talked to Catherine Weetman on The Circular Economy Podcast about reviving #repair and #reuse for our tech 🔧 Listen to hear about what we've been up to including campaigning for #RightToRepair, #RestartParties, #FixingFactories and #Fixfest.

Fiona Dear is a Co-Director at The Restart Project, which aims to keep our electronics in use for longer through repair and reuse. The Restart Project champions community repair, supporting regular Restart Parties where people teach each other how to repair their broken and slow devices, and using the data and stories they collect to help demand better, more sustainable electronics for all
Wonderful to hear from repairers in Paraguay that #FixingFactories was in the news there
#RightToRepair is a global movement only going in one direction. The outcome is inevitable - it just makes sense for governments & manufacturers to get on board now!
Putting it off is environmentally disastrous procrastination for indefensible and short term business reasons
If the big tech firms plan to be here in 100 years why does their tech barely last 3?

🎄 Perhaps our most exciting achievement of the year was opening 2 brand new #FixingFactories, permanent spaces for #repair and #reuse, in Brent and Camden. It’s a project that we have seen transform from a glimmer of an idea to two physical spaces, and we are so excited to keep developing the project with all of you 🎉
11 days away...
🎄 In June, 11 young people were trained by Mer-IT (https://www.mer-it.org/) on how to build, #repair, and upgrade a PC. The course was funded by and run as part of the #FixingFactories initiative and led to a number of trainees continuing to a work experience placement 🎉
Hello Fediverse! #introduction
We're a charity that helps people learn how to repair their broken things, and challenges the pattern of consumption of electronics and electricals in the first place.
We support community #repair and #reuse and repair businesses in London and beyond, and are active in pushing for the #RightToRepair in the UK and in Europe.
"The UK is one of the biggest producers of e-waste in the world. Can ‘fixing factories’ help turn the tide? Campaigners think so – and want to open one on every high street ...
“'We’ll turn the Fordist factory on its head and forge new spaces for fixing, learning, curiosity and empowerment,' said the Restart Project, the repair charity involved in the project."
