Filoli

The Filoli house is located Woodside about a half hour south of San Francisco. The home was built between 1915 and 1917 by the Born Family.
Filoli is an acronym for William Bourn's saying of Fight for a just cause, Love your fellow man, Live a good life.
The home currently sits on a 16 acre formal garden within a 654 acre estate.

Filoli Tulips

Filoli is a country estate located in Woodside California. To make a long story short the Filoli estate was donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation back in 1975 by the Roth family with an endowment for the maintenance of the estate.
The home is 36,000 square feet and the main floor is open for tours as is the 16 acre Italian Renaissance Garden.

Today we visited Filoli estate gardens with the Explorers Guild, a group that creates expeditions with a storytelling element to it. They do regular events in the Bay Area and we’re looking forward to their upcoming Steeplechase event (riding multiple merry-go-rounds in a single day.)

We went to see the Thomas Danbo Trolls on display there for the next couple of months. They’re pretty fun, and exceptional for the scale (and amount of scrap wood used to make them!) It’s a nice contrast on the trails from the gorgeous house and lush gardens of the Bourne mansion.
