"On November 4th Scottish #CND will host the Festival For Survival. Taking place across two fantastic venues, Adelaides and the Renfield Centre in #Glasgow, this event will bring together and incredible line up of campaigners, civic voices, think tanks, academics, cultural figures and international guests.

"In a range of workshops, plenaries and cultural exhibits we will bring hundreds of people together to discuss and debate how we can make another world possible, with a focus on the twin threats to our planet: nuclear calamity and catastrophic #ClimateChange.

"These issues fuse together to threaten the very habitat we rely on.

"Today’s #nuclearbombs are many times more destructive than those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. All of the nuclear states including India and China are developing new weapons while the non-nuclear powers create new pressure towards disarmament through the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

"At the same time, we need a full scale mobilisation of resources to tackle climate change and #environmental destruction.

"The movement for nuclear disarmament and action on climate is needed now more than ever. In Scotland, we have a special responsibility to rise to that challenge. Removal of nuclear warheads from #Faslane and #Coulport would dismantle the British nuclear weapons system and prove that nuclear states can be disarmed. Meanwhile, Scotland can play a leading role in taking action to avert climate breakdown.
