On the farming front, we've got good news and bad news.

Bad news is the #FediverseChickCountdown looks like it's really just going to be that one chick. I haven't totally given up on the other eggs, but it's not looking good. If it's just that one chick, I'm going to attempt to foster it onto one of the broody hens I've got sitting on eggs (because incubators suck, mama hens are way better)

#BabyGoatCountdown is at 1 day! I really hoped for babies this morning because that would be convenient, but baby goats are never convenient! In any case, there will be baby goats soon!

But bad news about the #FediverseChickCountdown, I think the temps were too low and I have to start over. Going to give it one more day, but I'm not hopeful. Will try the countdown again in 3 weeks, with a new incubator we just bought.

Good morning. #BabyGoatCountdown is at 2 days, and it's -17C this morning so I did get up at 2am to go check the goats. Fortunately the stars were amazing at 2am and the Earth's shadow was high enough that there were no visible satellites!

I'm 75% sure that I heard a peep from the incubator when I checked just now, so maybe the #FediverseChickCountdown won't be a total bust!

#FediverseChickCountdown is supposed to be today, but we'll see... incubator has been unreliable ☹️ I'd guess tomorrow if at all.

Very pleasant day of talking to family (including talking my parents through setting up Signal, yay), cooking projects, watching a movie (one upside to a shitty weather day), and saying hello to all the crows who apparently migrated back here today.

Mama goats are in the barn for #BabyGoatCountdown (4 days), and my incubator is only running 1 degree cold currently so maybe the #FediverseChickCountdown will still be happening? I'm guessing at least 1 day late (Monday, not tomorrow).

"Freezing drizzle" is definitely the least pleasant form of precipitation, but at least it looks neat as it freezes onto stuff (...including the llama, who has such thick wool on his back that it doesn't melt!)

#FediverseChickCountdown is at 1 day, though my old incubator is having trouble maintaining the right temperature, so the chicks will be late or not at all ☹️ (That's farming...)

I just took the egg turner out and put all the eggs back in the incubator. Hatch babies, hatch!
