🎭 The Lyin’ King | “Fat Ham” @ Geffen Playhouse https://cahighways.org/wordpress/?p=16774

Last night, we saw "Fat Ham" at Geffen Playhouse. An interesting take on Hamlet -- not at all what I was expecting and very funny. Remarkable performance by Marcel Spears, whom you may know from The Neighborhood.

When #FatHam played at the Wilma, where it originated, yueiv had this marvelous dead center view.

The Tony nominated, and Pulitzer Prize winning musical will make its West Coast premiere at The Geffen Playhouse on March 27th. It will run until April 28th, and most of the Broadway cast will be reprising their roles.

Effectively dead center in the second row. You are right next to the action, with your feet at ground level of the stage. The first row will have your heads at the actors' knees, so don't sit any closer than this!

Closing tommorow, 7/2, is #PrimaFacie, #Leopoldstadt, #FatHam, & #TheSigninSidneyBrusteinsWindow.

For Prima Facie (before Jodie Comer won the Best Leading Actress in a Play Tony for her performance) VinceND had a "Great seat for seeing facial expressions".

This was iampaulsteven's great view, from the mezzanine, of #FatHam a Pulitzer Prize winning Hamlet adaptation that takes place at a family cookout.

It has 5 Tony Award nominations including Best Play, closes the #AmericanAirlinesTheatre on July 25th, & first premiered as a filmed production during the Wilma's 20/21 season. #Broadway

Close to center of the row. It's a long row, so handle your business before the show. You will piss people off if you try to get up during the performance. Stadium seating is a huge plus.

So #Broadway this season:
The downside- the Pat Benatar musical, the Brittany Spears musical, Shucked (a musical about corn), the Back to the Future musical, the Almost Famous musical, The Mousetrap and on and on and on it goes.
The upside- Top Dog/Underdog, Piano Lesson, Death of a Salesman, and, now, #FatHam

Still a paucity of originality.
