We are currently at 17 release blockers for FreeCAD 1.1, so the FPA members have raised the price per fixed release blocker from $50 to $100.

Meanwhile, two more people have collected bugfix rewards:

Werner Meyer, who is a co-founder of FreeCAD.

Chris "ipatch" Jones, who previously contributed numerous improvements benefiting Mac users.

Job Offer: Competition Co-ordinator
The FreeCAD Project Association (FPA) are keen to develop a recurring CAD challenge/competition and are looking for a project co-ordinator.

Inspired by CAD challenges such as the "Too Tall Toby" program the co-ordinator will lead on designing and delivering a pilot activity, leading to a sustained event.

First bugfix program payouts done
We’ve just done the first payouts in the pilot bugfix rewards program launched in August. Two contributors have claimed the reward so far: tetektoza fixed 15 confirmed issues, and matthiasdanner fixed another five. Congrats!

We are looking for a regression bisection specialist
The FPA is seeking applicants to help identify and document code regressions in FreeCAD.

Key responsibilities:

Investigate regression reports from users, developers, and CI tools

Use git bisect and related tools to identify the commit that introduced a regression

The Q3 2025 grant applications deadline is near
We will soon wrap up accepting grant applications for the third quarter of 2025. If you are interested in participating, please submit your application by September 1. #Israel / The state has informed the Supreme Court that it will continue to ban foreign and Israeli journalists from entering Gaza to report freely on the situation

This ban has been in place since October 2023, with multiple legal challenges filed by the Foreign Press Association (#FPA). While some limited access with military escort has been granted, Israel maintains that free movement for journalists poses unacceptable security risks.

The FPA has stated journalists will bear responsibility for any harm they face in Gaza, but Israel disputes this, fearing potential legal challenges and risks to operational security.

A court hearing on the FPA's petition is now scheduled for October 23rd, over a year after the initial request.

[...] The FPA's petition, filed approximately ten months ago, was originally scheduled for a hearing last April. However, the hearing was postponed due to "court calendar constraints." Subsequent hearings planned for May and June were also canceled, in part due to Israel's attack on #Iran.

WandererFan is retiring
WandererFan, AKA Chris has recently announced his retirement from two roles at FreeCAD: Maintainer of the TechDraw workbench and member of the FreeCAD Project Association (FPA) board, responsible for all accounting and budgeting work.
