earthlingMeet the fossa (Cryptoprocta ferox)! Despite its catlike appearance, this critter is actually a close relative of the mongoose. It’s also the largest carnivore on #Madagascar, growing up to 22 lbs (10 kg) and measuring up to 72 in (183 cm) long. This solitary critter’s diet includes fish, birds, and lemurs. When aggravated, this critter can release a pungent odor from its scent glands, which it also uses to mark its territory and attract mates.
