Many colleges don’t send leftover financial aid refunds directly to students. Instead, the money is routed through third-party processors like BankMobile Disbursements.

If the refund preference step isn’t completed, the funds can sit in the system for weeks before reaching your bank account.

Financial Aid Refund Delayed? BankMobile Step Many Miss

Financial aid refund not in your bank account yet? Many colleges use BankMobile for refunds, and one missed setup step can delay your money for weeks.

School Aid Specialists
The least offensive explanation for what's going on is that these colleges' #financialAid appeals process simply replicate the FAFSA algorithm, so e.g., if your income has gone down since the tax year that FAFSA uses, the college can recalculate your student aid index by plugging your current income into the FAFSA algorithm. These colleges are unwilling to do the work to come up with a different algorithm/process to accommodate circumstances not addressed by the #FAFSA algorithm.

Both UMass Lowell and University of Hartford portrayed this as something they have no choice about. "The FAFSA no longer takes # of kids in college into account, so we can't either."
When I pushed back on that, they both admitted that they could if they wanted but are choosing not to.
If you're not rich and you have multiple kids that will overlap in college, you may wish to ask colleges they're considering applying to whether that will increase their financial aid.

Of note:
1) The FAFSA used to consider the number of children in college when determining your need. This was recently removed.
2) Black and Hispanic families are more likely to have more children and therefore more likely to have multiple children in college.
I'm sure this is just a coincidence. 🤔

My son just tried to fill out the #FAFSA for the first time. The first step in that process is creating a #FsaId at https://studentaid.gov/.
The website is broken and refusing to allow my son to create an FSA ID. "An unknown error has occurred. Please try again later or close all browser windows and start over." over and over, from a different page in the process each time he tries.
Your government at work!

Just so we are all aware, #Nursing Excluded as #ProfessionalDegree By #DOE. This field is under fire because the Regime doesn't want to give financial aid to this field. There are programs that allow you to work in a low-income area and get your tuition paid off.

If you work there for like 2 years. I worked for #FAFSA. Theyre doing this because its a female-dominated field.
This job pays well (still could be better), and women can leave and not live under a man's thumb. So by discrediting it, less money for scholarships, less other aid, and lessw

people in an already struggling field. Yes, they want us home, married to our abusive spouses, and make it so we can't leave. Please spread the word.

#education, #socialwork, #publichealth, #physicianassistant, #occupationaltherapy, #audiology, #speechlanguage, #business master, #engineering masters, #Counseling All of these jobs are female-dominated, and alot of these jobs are mandatory reporters. There are alot of #nurses who're maga, so thanks

Thinking about college funding? Prioritize scholarships, utilize savings, and work while studying. Keep loans as a last resort to reduce financial strain.
