I don’t know what the heck is going on in my brain with the Exploding Head Syndrome. Maybe it’s my monkey brain trying to tell me it’s not safe to fall asleep? At first I thought it was just loud bangs, but it can be any loud noise, I just had jangling chains! #CFS #ExplodingHeadSyndrome

While I loved the exhibition, I definitely overdid things yesterday. Got a taxi from Euston to the gallery, but thought I’d save some ££ and get the tube back.

I’d forgotten that not all tube stations have escalators and the steps were too much for me.

Have realised that my exploding head syndrome is related to my chronic fatigue. And that the previous two times I’ve had it were also after times of over-exertion. A friend gets tinnitus, this must be my indicator.

Today I had #ExplodingHeadSyndrome and #MigraineAura, so technically that visual and auditory hallucinations in one day, without chemicals or psychosis.

I mean, half-asleep brain was QUITE SURE that the spot had been moving around, but half-asleep brain was, as I have said before, previously convinced that mice were in my bedroom curtains and could not get past a knot.

Took forever to get my pulse back down to normal, and longer to get back to sleep.

No idea if this is related to #explodingheadsyndrome but eesh it wouldn't surprise me.

The sitting-up thing, as far as I can tell, is what they call #ConfusionalArousal. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confusional_arousals) It might or might not be related to #explodingheadsyndrome - they're both considered #parasomnias but neither is all that well understood. Mostly they're considered harmless and best handled by de-stressing and trying to get more sleep. Maybe consuming more magnesium, too.

In fairness, I know #explodingheadsyndrome is harmless. I've read a lot of disturbing medical stuff in the past for fun and #EHS is specifically cited in most of the things I've read as 'scary name, harmless problem'. But man, that is *not* a first screen I think most people would want to see.
This is a very real phenomenon, with an unfortunate name, that's been happening to me since I was young. When it came up on an episode of House, I must've looked like the Leo DiCaprio meme, furiously gesturing at the TV in astonishment. https://mastodon.chrispelli.fun/@hnbot/111459459189340526 #sleep #explodingheadsyndrome #anxiety
