So, you're in a planet which seems burgeoning, life everywhere in apparent harmony, or at least has a clear, fixed food chain. You come from outside and try to settle there, apparently without any particular agenda on terraforming, exploiting and such.

Suddenly the whole planet, somehow, turns against you, saying you're an invasive species who disrupts the ecosystem.

Turns out "the whole planet" is only the intelligent infrastructure of a long gone civilization which used these systems to, guess what, model the planet and "tend to it", but still specializing some areas (like the ridges on Vertumna, which used to have the obsidian "solar panels") and managing it to some sort of harmony. Harmony which, as far as you know,
is not explicitly expressed/asked for by life on the planet.

The question is:
why would their idea on the planet's balance be better than yours? Even if they talk about nature's balance and harmony etc., why would their use of flora/fauna as weapons against you be more justified than your desire to settle and survive there? Is there really a notion of balance, harmony, even nature?

It's clearly an exercise in thought, and I'm writing this before starting to work, but I think it can spark some good ideas.

Ok so, I'll start with the session report and then I'll broaden the talk so everyone can read (lucky them!)

Lately I've returned on Vertumna, mainly bc those darn shields were still off at every run! I tried a couple times but in the end I resorted to search
only for the requirements to go and redirect them.

I couldn't have found them myself now that I save everyone, and it's been tragic to follow the guide; on the other hand, I could've done it by chance in the first runs, since I usually end with very high engineering. But still.
It's worth it though, first run when I can redirect the shields...I lower them! I couldn't resist! I didn't expect that outcome but it's veery nice, I like how they treat your game after it, pretty much UT-genocide route-style.

Anyway, then I also had to do the Tangent's Cure final -which I already did in my very first run but on the Switch, so I didn't have the achievement- and then I think I'm
almost done with the "bad" endings.
But then, while I was doing these acrobatics, I thought, which is always dangerous to me.

Finally done! I did end up overhauling the hair again, though, so now it's made with curves which I've put on a surface deform cloth.

Thread, 2025 as #exocolonist memory cards c/o my Fan Art Memory Card Creator and thanks to @simulo for the prompt. Each card to follow as a separate post.

I really love how "I was a teenage #Exocolonist " promotes #community engagement through its #gameDesign :

The main game mechanic is a simple card challenge, adding enough points to beat a threshold.

Where many players are naturally inclined to start developing characters attributes, spending time learning, exercising, etc - it's not what gets you cards.

Forming memories with your community members does.

I find that one of the most #solarpunk usages of emergent narrative in game mechanics :)

His gloves ate his sleeves and the coat refuses to behave, but he feels almost done, now only for the last 90 percent

My Sym 3D model is finally getting somewhere   .

Only have to finish the details and get the materials looking right. Also he needs eyebrows and eyelashes.

@jsw The #exocolonist game community has discussed what to call a non-binary uncle/aunt role, since it's a possibility in the game, and there are two non-binary supporting characters and you can choose that for the main player character.

I can't speak to preferred terms.

The game lets you fill in a word to be used in the conversation and story text if your player character is non-binary.

@operationpuppet I wonder how widespread charity benefit game stream events are?

One of my strokes of luck was to win a donation drawing prize from a benefit stream event at Finji, the game publisher, an extra press packet of promotional material from their game #Exocolonist . And suddenly I was making fan crafts.

The Warframe community seems exemplary in building a regular benefit stream into their community routine.
