Oh, brilliant. I love it! Using double slashes to indicate memories conflicting with realities for a character works! One slash, meh, okay, but seeing two? That's a HUGE cue that something here deserves attention.
Let the mechanics work for the readers, not against them!
I'm doing another run through Every Sky a Stranger for @LJ , by mutual agreement. (Not every project needs a second go after the client has incorporated edits, but when the client feels it's worth the time, I'm happy to do it.)
I'm sitting here looking at what she did and nodding.
It's a delight, truly, seeing how clients take my work and make it theirs. An addition here, a tweak there. Things I didn't change or suggest that they took upon themselves to do.
I love it.

81,149. ONE MORE SCENE TO GO! Yes, I'm shouting. LOL. In the past 30 days, I've written nearly 25% of this novel. The first 75%? two *years*.
I've come to understand a story takes the time it takes. I had to grow into this one. It took several months of writing to realize I had gotten the beginning wrong. That's how it goes sometimes.

78,600 words. Today was nearly a 3k day! I haven't done that in a long, long time.

When I thought I had 3 scenes to go last week? I was wrong. Got to those scenes only to realize there were 3 more scenes to add to stick the landing.

My antagonist revealed something to me about her motivation. About bloody time! LOL.
73.5K 4 scenes to go. And I'm done for the day.
That's almost 15k since March 1.
A few more solid writing days & this draft will be done. But I need to make sure I take enough breaks to care for my neck & arms. Too much time at the computer isn't good for my body.
