A while back I watched Evelyn Preer in two short, early talkies from 1929 “The Melancholy Dame” (https://youtu.be/WRu1bHbRFk8), “The Framing of the Shew” (https://youtu.be/LZ4H-DjDaig) Really interesting stuff from the early sound era.

The Melancholy Dame (1929, Evelyn Preer, Spencer William, race film)

"Despite the stereotypes these films are important as they were made with black actors for black audiences (thus 'race films'). Very few of these exist (Preer made dozens of films, but only three are known to have survived.) These were some of the first race talkies ever."
