Club Hangover, which opened in the late 1940's, was the premier traditional jazz venue in San Francisco during the 1950's. The club at 729 Bush Street, close to Powell Street, was run by Doc Dougherty featuring performers such as Louis Armstrong, Kid Ory, George Lewis, Lee Collins and Earl Hines.

Jazztodon artist of the week: Louis Dumaine! The trumpeter was a member of the Tuxedo Brass Band in the 1920s, plus the Henry Allen Brass Band and the Eagle Brass Band. In 1927, he recorded famous tracks with his “Jazzola Eight.” In the 1930s, he headed up brass bands like the WPA band in 1935 and the ERA Orchestra 1936.
