Call me Meles. I'm your friendly neighbourhood European badger furry, professional computer-toucher, self-taught software developer, Debian Linux user. Pronouns he/him.

I'm more proficient with a keyboard or camera than with a pencil and drawing pad, though I am trying to get better at the latter. Love listening to music (I'll try almost everything except hard rock and electronic at least once, though there are exceptions in both directions), reading (especially about people punching up and/or imperfect people trying their best in their imperfect world), and have been known to try my paws at writing.

Among else, I care about such outmoded things as autonomy in the digital realm, including control over computers, software and data; privacy; freedom; consent; and respect for others. I don't care about assigned at birth labels, but I do care that people aren't disrespectful assholes. (We can't do much about conditions at our conception and birth, but we can do a lot about what we are like now.) And while I recognise the value of a legal distinction, and certainly don't claim perfection, I try to treat both domestic and wild non-human animals as people, as creatures who simply try to live their lives and who deserve respect for their own sake.

A #Badger cub (Meles meles) from my archive. If I recall correctly, this is the one who eventually came right up to where I was standing, so close that their nose made contact with my shoe! He or she beat a hasty retreat after picking up my human scent, but what a moment that was - one of many ‘close encounters of the furred kind’ I have experienced over the years.
