Epidendrum radicans is back in bloom!
Commonly called Fire Star orchid, among other names, it’s a cane-forming semi-climber that often grows terrestrially, found through much of the tropical Americas. Because it’s in bloom right now I will probably be prepping a video about it (as well as Drosera rotundifolia, Nepenthes gracilis, and a few others once I’m finished catching up from my last trip…).

Just look at these gorgeous specimens. I first spotted (and featured) these on a commercial property in #Oakleigh around four months ago.

And they’re still flowering.They’re growing in pots on a verandah aligning a footpath. So they’re accessible and photogenic!

#EpidendrumRadicans is a species of #orchid.

Common names include ground-rooting epidendrum, fire-star orchid, rainbow orchid, and reed-stem epidendrum.

Delicate. But hearty - and their flowering longevity is quite something else.
