Gotta love it when your LOCAL newspaper is behind the news. 🤣 We had regional news out here frequently covering our homeless story. Formed our coalition ( https://putnamhomelesssolutions.wordpress.com ), had several meetings, appeared at several county, city, and joint commission meetings, and they're just now covering the story. Fridays coalition meeting will have Action News Jax, Palatka Daily News (the local news), and our local Congress Reps office present.
Our movement and push for a shelter and transitional programs to get these people off the streets and back on their feet is picking up momentum quickly (I just started this back in beginning of December). I was made the lead because I'm not allowing the nonprofits to pivot away from the shelter. So fine, I'm accepting my role and I'll make sure city and county are pressured until it's permitted to move forward with the shelter. We will not be silenced or ignored.
