With "A Man Called Otto", a Hollywood remake with Tom Hanks was launched this year. Those who can warm to it should take a look at the Swedish original. Based on the book of the same name by Fredrik Backman, this was filmed in 2015. The cast is surprisingly good with Rolf Lassgård (Kurt Wallander from the original films) and Ida Engvoll ("Rebecka Martinsson", "Love & Anarchy"). Bahar Pars also embodies the lively neighbour

I'm always sceptical about american remakes of european movies. IMHO a remake is only necessary if the cultural differences in the original are so vast that the american audience wouldn't understand certain story arcs or motivations. #EnManSomHeterOve #AManCalledOtto

WHY? I don't get these kinds of remakes. I mean... in the end it's to make more money out of the material. But it adds absolutely nothing to the story. #AManCalledOtto

omg omg omg I had no idea this was becoming a Hollywood movie. And with Tom Hanks!!

I saw "En man som heter Ove" back in 2015 as a stage theater one-man show with Johan Rheborg playing Ove, no props except his clothes and nobody playing the other characters, and it was one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen.
