Happy 25th anniversary to one of the most underrated (loose) comic book adaptations of all time. 'Josie and the Pussycats' didn't rock the box office, but it's a hell of a fun film that was ahead of its time. It had girl power and friendship, colourful costumes, Alan Cumming as a shady executive, and pure unadulterated 90s vibe.

Beyond the surface, it was a clever satire with a strong anti-consumerism message and commentary on media manipulation, manufactured trends, and how big labels treat art as a product and artists as disposable tools, highlighting the contrast between soulless capitalist approach and genuine individuality and inspiration. With a fantastic pop punk soundtrack and original songs performed by Kay Hanley, singer of Letters to Cleo, and John Stephan & J’son Thomas for the DuJour performances.

Low budget films in the film era used to look so much better than low budget digitally shot movies of modern day. I don't think Clown in a Cornfield is badly directed, but it has the shit cinematography so many streaming original digital films across platforms has.
