I've discovered a new-to-me author and I've got mixed feelings about it. The book is White Heat by M J McGrath, first of a trilogy.

It's set in the Arctic. Lots of details about Arctic life. Found myself wondering if it's accurate. Has this author grown up on Ellesmere Island? Is she Inuit? How does she know?

Discovered the author is British, born in UK. Spent some time in Germany. Traveled in the USA. No experience with Arctic life at all.

First balloon mission of the NASA balloon campaign in ESRANGE has been terminated at about 11:00 UTC today.

Payload (HELIX instrument) descended in Ellesmere Island, Nunavut Territories, Canada after 6 days and 8 hours of flight.

The landing point is located in a permanent snow and ice area 120 miles NNE of Grise Fiord the only populated settlement on the island.
