Whilst #MinimumWage in other places is rising, abeit slower than it should be the fact that the #USA refuses to even remotely adjust it to #InflationRate as per #FederalReserve is absurd...

That's why such numbers should not be up to politicians in parlaments but independent bodies - just like #ElectionDistricts should be drawn by #Census #Data and not as a political decision!

@vij Gerrymandering like this is why election districts in Germany get drawn by independent commissions solely based off census data and solely based on the goal to make them as equal as they can in population.

For Federal Elections: Target size is 300k population, rounded by full ZIP Codes and following county & district lines as close as possible doing so.

#Alabama's congressional map is struck down again for diluting #Black voters' power

A panel of 3 federal judges has struck down Alabama's latest map of congressional #ElectionDistricts for not following a court order to comply w/the landmark #VotingRightsAct.

In an order released Tues, the judges said they are "deeply troubled that the State enacted a map that the State readily admits does not provide the remedy we said #federal #law requires."
