This dinosaur came to visit the strip in front of our home between the sidewalk and street, filled with native ground covers and my favorite weed #BidensAlba. Sometimes we see ibises in groups but today just one guy, feasting on grubs and other insects. Not sure what exact features give a bird a prehistoric look, but this one has it. #NativePlants #EcologicalLandscaping #Florida #zone10

Rebecca McMackin and the Innovative Beauty of the Ecological Landscape — Growing Greener

Rebecca McMackin, former Director of Horticulture at Brooklyn Bridge Park, discusses her new online newsletter and her projects for moving ecological gardening into the mainstream

Growing Greener

“Did you know that when you take a picture of a pollinator for #iNaturalist, it allows you to add in the flower that it’s visiting? Use the "Observations Fields" —> "Interaction"—> "visited flower of" feature on the site. Researchers and nerds like me will thank you!”

Ecological landscaper Rebecca McMackin’s quote spot on here:
“A big part of our job is not only developing the practices that encourage wildlife, but changing the acceptable aesthetics around gardens, so that people feel more comfortable having these gardens that are really functional for wildlife, as well.”
