GargravarMany #eastgermans still complain about not having reached parity with West Germany, but FFS, the West Germans EARNED their wealth, they built it up over the forty years since ww2 while East Germany went in the WRONG DIRECTION and DESTROYED its wealth. It's now thirty years after reunification and there's still doubt whether East Germany is moving in the right direction willingly.

Exactly as I had thought:

That is EXACTLY what did not work in #EasternGermany either in the 1980's, shortly before the Wall (in #Berlin) fell and the economy collapsed...Only that #EastGermans did not lack food, as in #Cuba.
