Deutlich weniger Asylanträge in Europa registriert.
Europa verzeichnet 2025 einen spürbaren Rückgang bei den Asylgesuchen. Insgesamt wurden in den 27 EU-Staaten sowie in Norwegen und der Schweiz rund 822.000 Anträge gestellt – etwa 20 Prozent weniger als im Vorjahr. Das geht aus dem aktuellen Jahresbericht der European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) mit Sitz auf Malta hervor.

The EUAA recently published the first comparative analysis of how national courts refined Member States’ interpretation of eligibility under the Temporary Protection Directive. The analysis comes as the EU marks 1,000 days since Russian military forces began their full-scale invasion of Ukraine, forcing over 4.4 million Ukrainians to seek safety in the EU.

Since reaching a 7-year peak in last October, there has been a sustained decrease in the number of asylum applications received in EU+ countries. In August 2024 applications stabilised at 78 000, with those from Syrians also decreasing by almost a quarter year-over-year. In contrast, the number of decisions pending at first instance reached an almost 8-year high, however.
