A Bajau family in Labuan lost their citizenship over old registration issues, leaving them stateless despite growing up here. Yet seven foreign-born “heritage” players accused of forged documents were fast-tracked into citizenship.

The family has lost access to aid, work, and even schooling for a child marked “belum ditentukan.”

This is statelessness in Malaysia: people who belong here treated like outsiders.
