Selfie aus dem Reinraum: Dreharbeiten für Sat1regional führten ein Kamerateam jetzt in einen unserer Kontrollräume. Von dort hatten unsere Gäste einen guten Blick in unsere Reinräume. Dort arbeiten Wissenschaftler*innen und Ingenieur*innen in Reinraumkleidung und unter saubersten Bedingungen an Weltrauminstrumenten.

Eines dieser Instrumente ist das Submillimetre Wave Instrument (SWI) der ESA-Mission JUICE. Während das eigentliche Instrument an Bord von JUICE in den vergangenen Wochen den interstellaren Körper 3I/ATLAS beobachtet hat, ist die Ersatzeinheit am MPS zuhause.

Ganymede Laser Altimeter GALA Aug 31, 2023

A report about the past months with GALA.
The #ESA_JUICE spacecraft is on its way to Jupiter and everything looks fine :)

Since we have turned on GALA in space for the first time on May 15th, all other instruments on JUICE completed their commissioning phase successfully.

After the commission phase was over, the spacecraft was put into cruise mode which is kind of a hibernation mode.
