Bath has welcomed its first electric buses and the West of England’s first repowered electric #buses as First Bus expands its zero-emission fleet across the region. The repowered double-deckers, converted from mid-life diesel vehicles, are among 27 refurbished electric buses arriving in Bath, alongside 137 new electric buses for Bath, #Bristol and Weston-super-Mare.
The rollout follows £70 million of investment from First Bus and £20 million from the #UK #government through the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, with total regional investment expected to reach £150 million by spring 2027.
By the end of 2026, almost half of the West of #England bus fleet is expected to be electric. The converted buses have their diesel engines removed and replaced with electric drivetrains and batteries, extending vehicle life while cutting emissions and improving air quality.

I had a wander along Sunderland's riverside in NE England yesterday afternoon, to take a look at the new pedestrian/cycle bridge, Keel Crossing.
Stopped en route to also capture Wearmouth Bridge in the lovely warm sunshine.
Good to see cyclists once again using this last section of the C2C cycle route (it had been previously been closed while construction of the new bridge had been underway).

Sprawling across a lush green lawn, the ancient walls of Richmond Castle rise in weathered stone, reflecting centuries of #MedievalArchitecture. Nestled in the picturesque market town of Richmond in North Yorkshire, the #HistoricSite overlooks the River Swale and offers sweeping #ScenicViews of the surrounding countryside. Once a formidable Norman fortress, it now stands as evocative #CastleRuins, inviting visitors to explore its storied past. A favourite for #TravelPhotography, the site combines history and natural beauty, making it a highlight of the region.
