๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Weโ€™re back from the ECCOMAS Advanced Course NL26 on Nonlinear Computational Solid & Structural Mechanics in Pavia.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ๐Ÿ’ปThe week offered an intensive and well-structured deep dive into numerical techniques, solution algorithms, and finite element approaches for nonlinear solid and structural mechanics. Across lectures and tutorial sessions, the course created a strong setting for discussing both fundamental concepts and current research directions in nonlinear computational mechanics.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Our institute was represented by Manfred Bischoff as one of the lecturers, and by several of our doctoral researchers who attended the course as participants.

๐Ÿ™ Many thanks to Ferdinando Auricchio, Manfred Bischoff, Carlo Lovadina, Guillermo Lorenzo Gรณmez, Robert L. Taylor, and Peter Wriggers for the excellent programme and for sharing their expertise.
It was a valuable week of learning, discussion, and scientific exchange in Pavia.

At the World Congress on Computational Mechanics 2024 in Vancouver, we officially launched the preparations for the WCCM ECCOMAS 2026,, to be held in Munich, Germany on July 19-24, 2026. With Wolfgang Wall and Alexander Popp, we were happy to get a "lessons learned" primer from the Vancouver organizers, and we look forward to the next months! The congress web site will go live in the next few weeks.

Last week Andrei gave his first #keynote #plenary talk at the #ECCOMAS Young Investigators Conference 2023 in the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto. Many thanks to the organisers, particularly Rodrigo Pinto Carvalho and Igor Lopes, for inviting. Advanced #opensource #finiteelementmethod tools are becoming increasingly popular in the ECCOMAS community!
From #GACM LinkedIn: We are happy to announce that the 17th World Congress on Computational Mechanics and #ECCOMAS Congress 2026 will be held in #Munich in July 2026. As announced during the Coupled Problems 2023 conference in Crete, a proposal by four chairmen Wolfgang Wall, Alexander Popp, Marek Behr and Ekkehard Ramm from the German community has been selected from among the competing bids.
See a mini-#symposium at the 7th #ECCOMAS Young Investigators #Conference in #Porto (June 19-21). We invite all #PhD students and #PostDocs working on #multifield problems to submit an abstract. The deadline for submission at https://paginas.fe.up.pt/~yic2023/submission/ is the 22nd of Jan.
