Day 24: Time Travel Tale

A Time Called You - I was glued to this one even though it stabs you in the heart. Complicated and suspend all physics disbelief (as with most time travel tales) but they somehow make it work. Nostalgia, mystery, thriller, sweet.

Day 25: An Absolute Classic

#Kdrama #sageuk Dae Jang Geum (2003), aka Jewel in the Palace

Historical drama set in the Joseon period is based on the first female royal physician in Korean history, Jang Geum (1474-1550). The drama touches on Korean royal court cuisine (as she first worked in the palace kitchen), traditional medicine, and royal politics. Credited for bringing international attention to Korean culture in the 2000s, later exported to 91 countries.

Science fiction. At different times various humans, robots and aliens in the same South Korea modern future travel to Goryeo to solve a future doom or find the instrument that will cause it. It requires everyone involved in the future to go back and return through a portal, and some in the past to go to the future and then return after the crisis.

To wrap this fun #DramaRecsChallenge 1 "absolute classic" Drama leapt to mind. One that got nearly everything right.

Those newer to the world of #KDrama (post 2017-ish) may not know that back in the primeval mists of time, #KDrama romcom writers did NOT think "it can't possibly be a REAL romcom without a psychopathic serial killer arc"'"🙄

This DAEBAK Drama, #CoffeePrince , is from those halcyon days of long ago. Would that those days return!

The entire premise of the drama is a mystery, besides final resolutions of some cold cases. This mystery was not resolved at the end of the series, but finally Season 2 is currently in the works for a 2026 release with the same cast. Stellar acting by our leads Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo, Jo Jin Woong.
