Among the “lost Arnesonian classes” are the Merchant and Sage which I both like and the merchant, at least, is an integral PC class in the 2e #DarkSun setting by Tim Brown and Troy Denning. It and the Sage, also appear in Tim’s “spiritual successor”, the #DragonKingsProject.

The “sage” could also be a way of introducing more contemporary fiction archetypes and factions into fantasy settings, e.g. #TheLibrarian(s), #Buffy, #Warehouse13, #IndianaJones, etc.. #DnD #ttrpg

[Fanzine Focus XXXV] The Lost Classes: The Arnesonian Classes

On the tail of the Old School Renaissance has come another movement—the rise of the fanzine. Although the fanzine—a non-professional and non...

@eldergoblinhighmage of the ones in the picture? #Shadowdark .

Of my own set, #starswithoutnumber.

Both in the #DragonKingsProject system agnostic setting.

@golgaloth very serious. My world is the #DragonKingsProject where simply casting an arcane spell can have dire consequences even if it is successful and the gods abandoned Khitus long ago so there’s no guarantees that a divine spell will even work at all.
@Tim_Eagon @Gorba @SilverGM I’m looking forward to getting that in hand to see how it fits but I think for the setting I use (#DragonKingsProject) the WithoutNumber series is the best fit mechanically.

@stumblewyk @Raddu Dark Sun is great. Have you see his “spiritual successor”, the #dragonkingsproject? 👑🐉
@bedirthan to each his own. You can’t do #DarkSun or the #DragonKingsProject without tracking encumbrance, components, time, weather…
@chaosfae I stopped dnd with 2e. Still into adjacent games though…I really like the #WithoutNumber system and am working on adaptations of both #DragonKingsProject and #B5 to it. I also like #TDE. I was really ready to jump into #FantasyAGE AND #Titansgrave until the setting got killed. Now I’m looking into #WorldofLazarus and #ModernAGE.
@ChaskaTheMagicDog I’m partial to the Krikis from the #DragonKingsProject. I’m not an entomologist but I have a thing for alien bugs…the Zerg, and the Xenomorphs, the Tyranids and the Thri-Kreen…and now the Krikis of Khitus. Khitus has a cool take on monkeyfolk and lizardfolk too but thankfully no Demi-humans or other common fantasy humanoids. Oh and don’t forget pachyaur; 2 races of elephantine centaur…
