Seattle arrests 31 violent protesters from the Progressive Left while inducing legal action from protesters from the Religious Right

Two recent incidents in Seattle highlight the city's ongoing struggles with managing protests and balancing free speech with public safety that have now garnered the attention of the FBI.

On May 24, Mayday USA held a permitted #DontMessWithOurKids" rally in Seattle's Cal Anderson Park, a site notable for the 2020 CHAZ/CHOP movement. The family-friendly event featured religious music and activities, drawing large counter-protest crowds under the banner "Keep Your Bible Off Our Bodies." Counter-protesters became hostile toward event attendees and confrontational with Seattle Police, leading to the arrest of twenty-three individuals. Washington State Troopers were called in for mutual aid as tensions escalated.

The day after the rally, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell labeled it a "far-right" event intended to “provoke a reaction by promoting beliefs that are inherently opposed to our city’s values, in the heart of Seattle’s most prominent [LGBT] neighborhood.” He suggested that Mayday USA chose the location to induce a riot, although his staff had recommended Cal Anderson Park as a suitable venue. Harrell announced a review of policies allowing such religious events in the future. The Deputy Director of the FBI, Dan Bongino, posted on X.com directing his team to investigate allegations of targeted violence against the religious group and emphasizing that "Freedom of religion isn’t a suggestion".

The mayor’s reaction inspired the Mayday USA group, also promoted locally by Former WA State Representative Matt Shea, to call for a protest outside Seattle City Hall on Tuesday, May 27, to call for the mayor’s resignation. This event was also met by counter protesters from the left, 8 of which were arrested by local Police for unruly conduct and violence.

"Seattle Police moved on counter-protesters at a fundamentalist Christian group’s rally Saturday afternoon in Cal Anderson Park. Multiple arrests and injuries were reported.

Groups were in the park to protest against a provocative rally organized by a Spokane fundamentalist church. CHS reported here on the planned '#DontMessWithOurKids' rally.

The clash with police came hours into the gathering as a phalanx of bicycle police moved into position near the front of a large crowd of counter-protesters near the rally stage and suddenly advanced on the crowd using their bikes and batons."

Millionaire ‘apostle’ summoning women to DC for Christian nationalist rally

Less than a month before the presidential election,
⚠️multilevel marketing professional-turned-Christian “#apostle#Jenny #Donnelly is summoning women to the National Mall to fast, pray and
💥uphold
“the Lord’s authority over the election process and our nation’s leadership”.

It’s the first of a series of #Christian #nationalist gatherings in DC to rally believers to the Capitol ahead of the 2024 election.

The pro-Trump influencer has billed the event as a rallying call for mothers
🧨concerned about changing gender norms in modern America, gathering women under pink and blue banners emblazoned with the anti-trans hashtag #DontMessWithOurKids.

In her promotional materials, Donnelly casts the event at the Capitol as an opportunity for women to stand their ground and play a pivotal role in changing the cultural and political trajectory of the US.

Although Donnelly will headline the prayerful demonstration, the event is a collaboration organized by multiple far-right Christian leaders affiliated with the #New #Apostolic #Reformation
– a movement on the Christian right that seeks to establish Christian dominion over government and society in the long term
– and get Trump elected in the nearer future.
