The morning walk was a little shorter than usual because there was slush on the streets and some roads were closed. And the road to the beach was "submersee", as the signs had already warned. But later, when the tide had receded, we had a lovely walk. In the evening, the sea and sky reached into their paintbox and it was a wonderful walk for the Rudel. Days at the seaside are fantastic.

A lazy day, but then again, it is vacation. And a very Norman day. Sun. Rain. Storm. The Rudel had a wonderful 7 kilometers on the beach. What more could you want?

The Rudel arrived home safely. The traffic jams that were supposed to be on our route, in Pforzheim for example, somehow didn't happen and we had a relaxed journey. It was even still light enough for a walk in the meadow. A perfect little vacation and now we have a long weekend.

Today was hiking day. The Rudel walked through the wild forest to the Schwarzenthann monastery ruins. A beautiful autumn forest with lots of sunshine. Not much remains of the monastery; the last nuns moved out in 15xx, and it was subsequently converted into a quarry. However, there is a great 3D animation that gives you a sense of what it might have been like. And, of course, everyone is happy and tired again.

The last day in Gascony. A hot day, but the Rudel held up well by the sea, the river, and the garden. The car is almost packed, and tomorrow we'll drive along the Pyrenees toward Provence, where we'll stay for another two days.

After a rather relaxed start, we had a wonderful day in Donostia. A beautiful city, much busier than Bilbao and somehow more chaotic. Wonderful, really. And now the Rudel ist again very tired.

It's supposed to be hot tomorrow, so we used today for a trip to the mountains. We walked along the Nive River to the Pas de Roland. It was very beautiful there; vultures were circling high above, the Rudel was able to drink from the river, and the surrounding area is beautiful. Back home, we played around a bit in the garden and in the river, and now everyone is tired.

Market day in the neighboring village, Peyrehorade. That was very exciting for the Rudel. And because it got warmer around midday, we had to be very lazy for the rest of the day. But okay, we're on vacation after all.

A lazy day on vacation. It was a bit humid, but not too hot. In the morning, we took a long walk, then we watched the house (Tapis), slept (Ici and Éclaire), and read (The Chronicler). A beautiful day for the Rudel.
