I run a number of computers at home, almost entirely GNU/Linux-based. As the hardware continues to age, data integrity had become more and more of a concern. I am particularly worried about sudden disk failures, and with a combination of ddrescue and timeshift I have been setting up whole-partition/whole-disk and incremental backups on critical systems.

#Linux folks: I'm upgrading the 256 GB SSD on my Linux machine to a 480 GB one. Is there an EASY way to clone the original disk into the new one AND resize the / partition (where everything resides) to take advantage of the extra space?
I tried cloning the disk on Windows using Macrium Reflect and then growing the / partition on Linux, but both gnome-disks and gparted throw errors. #diskcloning
A little bit more manual work this morning, to delete an empty recovery partition, and extend the boot partition to use the extra space, and it's done.
I went to bed with clonezilla still running. Sometime between 4 and 6 am ET this morning it completed the clone.
What used to take 25-30 minutes from a cold start, took under 2 minutes to fully started and ready to use.
