Some of the worst nonsense I have seen lately has been about Graham Platner. Reporting what he has said and done does not amount to attacks and witch hunts. The man has been behaved oddly. Personally, I am far more concerned about him being a guns fanatic. His comments about his military adventures - "I read too much Hemingway" - aren't going to help a lot with promoting him as a veteran. He has important blemishes and denying them can only make matters worse.

Reading comments posted about Platner ought to cause a great deal of concern about his chances in November. He has been criticized often from his left. Maine is hardly a Democratic state. One of my Piscataquis County cousins is Facebook friends with Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump but NOT with his own brother and sister! There is a HUGE right wing population in the northern and eastern two-thirds of the state. For Platner to beat Collins, he is going to need united Democratic support. Those numerous critical comments from his left do not encourage optimism. A lot of work needs to be done.

The attached summary is a lot less sensational than an item in my Facebook feed today but it hardly makes Trump look good.

Serious allegations have been made and they deserve careful examination, though we can count on the Trump (when awake), White House, and Capitol Hill Trumpublican denial and diversion machine to be running at the highest possible RPMs.

MS NOW has a post about Graham Platner's troubled campaign for the US Senate. Comments are being posted so fast I couldn't read them because they kept being bumped down. By no means were all the negative remarks about Platner coming from the right wing. He is not a very attractive candidate to many Democrats. The HUGE problem here should not be at all hard for much of anyone to see. Platner is a shabby candidate running in a not particularly Democratic state. He is doing frequent damage control AND IT IS NOT GOING TO STOP. He is an obvious creep and not all Democrats are going to go with a double standard about Platner's behavior. Anyone is a fool who thinks they will. Maine Democrats have a severely damaged candidate and this is a losing proposition. Hillary Clinton had high negatives and she was widely disliked but Democrats stuck with her anyway. Ask President Hillary Clinton how well she managed her high negatives and unpopularity in 2016. Ask President Gary Hart. (Look it up.) Maine is a competitive state AT BEST. To win there, Democrats are going to need all hands on deck. Graham Platner positively is not the candidate to do it. It looks as though history is very likely to repeat itself in Maine if this keeps up.
