I want to say, though... "profits over everything" isn't just the ethos of Corporate America, it is a literal legal/ethical requirement of corporate authors.
The problem is that Hasbro is run by useless, worthless rent-seeking parasites who think 100% of a six-inch pie is better for them than 90% of a twelve-inch pie. They are destroying their own wealth because they can't control ours.
Lot of people in the #DefendTheOGL community are working on a non-OGL 5e alternative for everyone (who matters) to rally around.
It, uh, turns out I'm NOT actually enjoying watching them go through what 4e fans went through-- while they laughed and sneered-- but their monolithic primate tribal idiocy has been a HUGE part of why the RPG industry was so vulnerable to this.
#1 RPG by a country mile is D&D. So are the other 4 games in the Top 5. We can no longer afford this to be the case.
With my sincerest regrets, the #OGL controversy has eaten all of my interest and energy for this exercise.

I should hope to return to working on and sharing more of The Oathbreaker King: a Shroompunk Tale before the year is out... as well as my independent and self-licensed roleplaying system to accompany it.

Well, I've spent the last couple of days torn between YouTube and the brand-new #DefendTheOGL Discord trying to keep track of what is... apparently... #Hasbro #WotC trying to single-handedly destroy the entire fucking #ttrpg industry.
I'm not losing much, saved again by my own incompetence, but I'm retooling my own projects to never rely on the fruits of Hasbro's poisoned tree ever again.
