I've been thinking about this topic in the context of both Family and Friends. Curious what other people think.

I have clarifying questions before I can think about this comment:
What does “political reasons” mean?
What does a "meaningful political act” mean?
Maybe it’s my being Autistic, but I have clarifying questions before I can think about this comment: What does “political reasons” mean? What does a ‘meaningful political act” mean? If we are talking about which parties someone votes for, I wouldn’t consider that worthy of "political reasons”. I’m not a supporter of any of the Canadian parties that have seats in the federal or Ontario provincial parliaments, and while I might rank candidates differently (if ever given a chance to rank), I can’t fault people for voting differently under divisive party-centric voting systems like FPTP, MMP, etc — or the resulting hyper-partisan parliaments. If we are talking about things like the Genocide being carried out by the current Governemnt of Israel, then that is in my mind worthy of cutting off friends and family. Anyone who at this point would still narrowly focus on “would you condemn Hamas” (a resistance group and political party) and not talk about the far-worse actions of Likud (political party, terrorist groups, what Hamas and other groups were formed to resist) simply perceive the world too differently that we wouldn’t have enough in common to be friends or civil family. I am aware genocide denialism is a common passtime within British North American (USA, Canada) culture, and this is yet another example of that denialism in further of Anglosphere interests. The Zionist entity was created and is sustained and protected from enforcement international law by various parts of the Anglosphere=UK+CANZUS. I would be cutting them off as I wouldn’t want to be associated with them, either having to deal with being triggered by their offensive ideology or have any suggestion I might agree. It wouldn’t be a political act to try to convince them or others. When it comes to things like continued support of the genocidal policies of the Zionist entity and the Likud terrorist group and leadership, there has been enough time for them to find their humanity. It isn’t something they would ever accept my help with if they hadn’t already.

And not about America so much
But the more pollution there is the more cancer there is
So you begin to see a nation dying from within”

Reposting as one of many intros to answer the "then what is your solution" that I get thrown by people who haven't given much thought to the origins of problems.
Also, why I no longer consider myself an "environmentalist", and why I reject conservationism.
Periodically posting this article as language matters.
"Our goal in this article is to remind readers what is unsettling about decolonization. Decolonization brings about the repatriation of Indigenous land and life; it is not a metaphor for other things we want to do to improve our societies and schools."

"Of the four, it was narrowed down to pretendians or Indigenous identity fraudsters. We wanted to go with Indigenous identity fraudster because the definition of fraud is “wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.” We wanted to call a fraudster a fraudster."

Earlier in my life I focused on "lesser of evils" activism.
I now focus on decolonization #DecolonizationIsNotAMetaphor , democratic reform, and other systemic changes.
I don't have "faith" in any of the corporate parties under the Dominion of Canada.

Even the NDP (the most "left" party with seats) actively carry out racist/colonial policies in so-called "British Columbia" as government.

Hi from what some call "Canada".
When I was born I was claimed a citizen by the Dominion of Canada.
I'm Autistic, with Canadian citizenship.
I'm not a Canadian with Autism.
Autism is part of my identity, the Dominion and the British Empire are not.
It very much is the *ongoing* institutional impacts of the British Empire. I support non-metaphorical #Decolonization and #LandBack.
Thanks for engaging.
More performative noise from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The Canadian Crown's problem is Christian Supremacy, not Islamophobia, antisemitism, or the general lack of recognition of any faith or worldview not based on those who believe in the God of Abraham.
