Ich habe gestern für eine Weihnachtsfeier im Dezember ganz mutig einen Zug von München zurück nach Hause gebucht. Und das weckt Erinnerungen an Dezember 2023, als es in München einen so heftigen Wintereinbruch gab, dass der komplette #Zugverkehr ausgefallen ist. Eine Kollegin hat mich und meine Zugmitstreiterinnen mit dem Auto mit nach #Regensburg genommen, wo sich nach viel Hin und Her, Warten und Bangen abzeichnete, dass es endlich einen #Zug raus aus #Bayern schaffen würde. Der ganze #Bahnsteig hat gefeiert. 😂

Yesterday, I booked a #train back home from Munich, where I'll be travelling in December for a Christmas party. This reminds me of December 2023, when there was such a heavy #snowfall in Munich that all trains were cancelled. A colleague kindly drove me and my fellow travellers to Regensburg, where, after hours of waiting, uncertainty, and hoping, there was finally a train leaving #Bavaria. The entire #platform cheered! 😂

#Belzig for #TrainTrackTuesday

This is where I found myself stranded on Saturday afternoon while trying to get to a family wedding. After travelling for 14 hours between continents with no issues, #DeutscheBahn struck again. The train was initially delayed by 35 mins and then stopped 40 mins short of my destination: Because it was running so late, they cancelled it to prevent further disruptions. 😑 The replacement connecting train was also cancelled (naturally), so I would have had to wait another 1.5 hours for the next one. By then, of course, the wedding would have been over.

So, my husband picked me up by car, and we raced to the wedding instead. In the end, I managed to hug the happy couple, pose for a quick family photo, and – three minutes later – we were on our way home, as everyone had already packed up and the venue was closing. 🥲 At least I got a slice of the wedding cake to take away. It was delicious!

On the bright side, the little café inside the #trainStation had a field day when dozens of people suddenly found themselves stranded in the soggy weather. 🤑
