An interesting article about https://cosocial.ca/ by @timbray - If you're interested in running community services, you should read it.

They take Canadian paying customers only (50 Can$), got 200 ppl after 2y and will hire their first paid employee soon.

Shameless plug:
https://info.graz.social is also providing paid memberships which supports efforts to educate the masses about #Fediverse and #decentralization for people in and around #Graz (and I'm part of @wir). Meet us at #GLT25 on April 26: https://www.linuxtage.at/en/

Consider a membership or a donation to your team of choice that runs a #communityservice! 🙇

The CoSocialist Future

ongoing by Tim Bray
I let it pass by last week without comment, but Dec 10 2024 was my second anniversary as a #CoSocialist. I am so proud of being a part of this collaborative, sustainable community on the social web. I think cooperatives are a great model for creating and maintaining digital infrastructure, and I'm glad that cosocial.ca is thriving and growing.

@redbirdlisa welcome!

If you’re not already using a mobile app, there are lots to explore. The Mastodon one is good to get started with.

There are two alternate web interfaces that work on mobile and desktop - Elk https://elk.zone and Phanpy https://phanpy.social/

The “Local” feed is all the other #CoSocialist who are on the server with you, even if you don’t follow them directly.

Make a post tagged introduction with hashtags about you / what you’re interested in to find others.

The rules say only Canadian residents can become members. Are there exceptions? Do you know of co-ops elsewhere? · CoSocial-Canada · Discussion #13

The Server Rules say CoSocial is for Canadian residents. Yes, we’re using that as one of the filters and focus areas to serve people in Canada and host our services in Canada, which should make som...
