If any CoActivate users are reading this, I strongly suggest you move any mission critical services to a new provider (if you haven't already). Public-facing content on CoA is being archived occasionally by the WaybackMachine (big thanks to Archive.org and the Archive Team), but I suggest you take a copy of any password-protected content in your projects if it's important to you.

#CoActivate

It's been a few months, but CoActivate.org is back up! I'm greatly relieved, mainly because it means the US-based admins survived the pandemic.

#CoActivate

#ShowerThought imagine a hybrid blog/wiki platform where the primary author UI is a blog editor, but drafts are saved and versioned as wiki pages. The visitor UI would be a bit like #CoActivate.org, with separate sections for reading blog posts in published order, and for browsing through wiki pages. The wiki could also be private, allowing a trusted group to give feedback on drafts in progress, a la #Medium (do they still have that feature).
#UbuntuOne done right and so much more! This is really exciting. I've signed up for the free package for #Disintermedia.net.nz, a project that exists to research and promote the transition to ethical tech, including #FreeCode software and federated services. Disintermedia is completely unfunded and independent, and relies on the support of ethical hosts like #CoActivate.org, who have hosted the blog and wiki for years.
@LWFlouisa #CoActivate is still running. The dev plans I'm aware of are to refactor and modernize the codebase, so it's easier to extend. When that happens, adding features like federation or GIT support will be much easier. Anyone familiar with #Python, especially #Plone and its frameworks, who is keen to help, please feel free to get in touch.
@z428 @alcinnz another example of the same principle is when editing tools produce code, instead of #WYSIWYG. For example, where you select a bit of text, click a 'link' button in a toolbar, and paste in a URL. In #Xinha (at least the version we use on #CoActivate) doing that produces a WYSIWYG link. In other editors, it produces a link in #MarkDown for #HTML. The user gets the handholding, but can see easy it is to create that same code themselves. Demystification is key.
The other thing I keep thinking is that I need to stop using my blogroll as a general link list, and actually links to the blogs of all the projects I've got listed (if they have one). All the link lists need to become part of my project of porting stuff from the #Disintermedia project on #CoActivate to the #P2PFoundation wiki.
