I introduced 2 colleagues to @thecontinent today. They're working on a #ClimateAtlas to assist #ClimateAdaptation in #Ghana and had not heard about the new anti-LGBTI legislation that was on its way

Thanks to #TheContinent I had - a friendly reminder that mainstream news outside #Africa is not always very broad. So give them some support...

Can you take a #ClimateService developed in one region and use it in another?

@markrpayne answered this in a Climate Coffee talk on an experimentation in climate service portability: implementing a Danish #ClimateAtlas in Ghana

I like this piece by @andrewdessler on the inequality that people face in dealing with #climateImpacts.
I'm afraid I too often say things like "we can adapt" without adding the obvious caveat "but there's going to be suffering which will overwhelmingly affect already disadvantaged groups".

The Danish #ClimateAtlas is at least an attempt to make sure everyone has the same high quality information freely available. But that doesn't mean the same capacity to act on it

Not everyone lives in the same climate, even people that live in the same city. Some people live much hotter lives, and it's mainly connected to how poor they are. So spare a moment for those living the "hot life" I write about this on The Climate Brink https://www.theclimatebrink.com/p/spare-a-thought-for-those-living

DMI recently signed a memorandum with the Ghanaian met service to develop a #ClimateAtlas for #ClimateAdaptation in #Ghana.

It's sorely needed.

@hansbrenna @AlaskaWx @hereidk there is a lot of work going on now in the #ClimateServices space about this. We have done a tonne of work with all sorts of different users and communities in Denmark in the building up of our #KlimaAtlas (#Danish #ClimateAtlas) it's been a very interesting but yes definitely iterative process!

This is a really cool thread on how to approach changes in #risk from #Hurricanes by @hereidk - really very familiar discussion from our Danish #ClimateAtlas work.

The hard bit is not the #science it's understanding what the question actually is..

Ok let's take this thing for a spin.. So, I wrote a book chapter recently! Disproportionately excited bc I'm private sector, so publishing anything is not like, a thing for me. Working on that. Anyway, in it I talk about how to usefully examine climate risk as a decision-maker for a high-impact hazard with big error bars: 🌀 Hurricane 🌀 As a part of this book, with many wicked smart folks: https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-08568-0 Conclusions?
