the heat's dogging us
don't be hoping for a break
our foot's on the gas

Heat of the moment:
Once, a cooling off followed.
Heat's now of whole lives.

why cheer doing but
one three hundred sixty-fifth
of what we owe Earth?
don't let one day be special
we're beyond when gestures count

Mon, Apr 22, 2024 is Earth Day, but the need is accelerating as we run quickly out of time.
If we had Earth Week this year, Earth Month next year, and Earth Years after that, we'd still be foolishly leaving time we could be acting on the table. There is no safe speed.
It may be that it's already too late, but we must act as if there is hope, since the only thing worse than there being no hope is thinking there is none when there is, and then failing to act.
Every day must be Earth Day. We can no longer afford a special day and then go back to not caring as if that's all that's needed. It is just not.

"Greenhouse gas emissions keep growing. Global temperatures keep rising. And our planet is fast approaching tipping points that will make climate chaos irreversible. We are on a highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator."
— António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations
