On #ThisDayInHistory in 1863, late in the #TaipingRebellion (a conflict that claimed 20-30 million lives), a British force under #CharlesGordon, assisting the #QingDynasty forces, massacred the people of #Suzhou. Around 30,000 civilians were killed by British & Chinese soldiers.
