In occasione delle iniziative per la Festa della Liberazione, il professor Alessandro Barbero ha tenuto una lezione all’Università di Padova dedicata al fascismo di ieri e di oggi e ai mezzi per combatterlo. Durante il suo intervento, lo storico ha parlato della costante necessità in Italia di ribadire di ribadire l’adesione ai valori dell’antifascismo e condannare esplicitamente il regime di Mussolini contro ogni forma di revisionismo. “Nel nostro Paese c’è anche gente che ha in casa il busto di co…ne che ha dichiarato guerra agli Stati Uniti” riferendosi alle parole pronunciate da Mussolini che nel dicembre del 1941.

On the occasion of the initiatives for Liberation Day, Professor Alessandro Barbero gave a lecture at the University of Padua dedicated to fascism of yesterday and today and the means to combat it. During his intervention, the historian spoke about the constant need in Italy to reiterate adherence to the values of antifascism and explicitly condemn the Mussolini regime against any form of revisionism. “In our country there are also people who have at home a bust of a…ne who declared war on the United States,” referring to the words spoken by Mussolini in December 1941.

Durante una lezione (partecipatissima) all’Università di Padova intitolata “Il fascismo ieri e oggi. Come riconoscerlo e combatterlo“, Alessandro Barbero ha parlato della tendenza di tutto l’Occidente a restringere gli spazi di opposizione e manifestazione. “C’è più antipatia, più fastidio del governo e delle istituzioni verso chi non è allineato. Non si arriva a proibire di pensarla diversamente, ma fanno sentire che dai fastidio”. Lo storico ha analizza la distinzione tra il nostalgismo folkloristico legato al fascismo storico, ad esempio quello che si raduna ogni anno a Predappio, con la crescita di società autoritarie moderne nelle attuali democrazie. Mettendo in guardia i ragazzi sul presente. “È meglio stargli addosso” ha concluso il professore.

During a (highly attended) lecture at the University of Padua entitled “Fascism Yesterday and Today: How to Recognize and Fight It,” Alessandro Barbero spoke about the tendency of all of Western civilization to restrict opposition and manifestations. “There is more antipathy, more annoyance towards the government and institutions towards those who are not aligned. They don’t necessarily reach the point of prohibiting thinking differently, but they make you feel like they’re annoying you.” The historian analyzed the distinction between the folkloristic nostalgia linked to historical fascism, such as that which gathers every year in Predappio, with the growth of modern authoritarian societies in contemporary democracies.
