How are disabled people with limited energy & resources supposed to get around all this?

So many people with resources are clueless while the rest of us watch the world slowly inching to a #cashfree, #DigitalID surveillance state.

Rushing to 100% "digitize" the economy and society (e.g. #cashfree, no physical stores, #cloudification etc.) is problematic and risky in the best of scenarios.

When you don't even control control the technologies involved, it goes beyond monumental incompetence and gets into suspicious territory.

The #digitaltransition is an unstoppable force. Like the harnessing of fire, it will empower those who can handle it and turn to ashes those who cannot.

So I fell for a scam text and now my #DebitCard has been compromised. I called the bamk and had them cancel it, but they said it would take 5–7 working days to issue me a new one.

Fortunately, I can apparently still withdraw #cash from the bank, and my schedule gives me Friday off so I can go in while it's open.

This is to say that it would be a pretty bad idea to abolish cash altogether. Sometimes you don't have a card.

So far I've been resisting using PayLah for buying food and drinks here on campus. As much as the #CashFree convenience has been touted, I dislike the idea of having to manually enter the amount to pay each time.There already are other existing systems that just let you tap a card/device and have the deductions automatically resolved.
