Harris County Sheriff’s Office to work on bringing back outsourced inmates as jail population dips

Crediting recent efforts by the district attorney's office to more quickly dispose of criminal cases, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez on Monday said the jail population has significantly decreased, and the county is on track to lower how much money it pays to send inmates to other facilities.
