U.S. carbon pollution rose in 2025, a reversal from prior years, report says

U.S. emissions rose last year, new research says: The country spewed 2.4% more heat-trapping gases from the burning of fossil fuels in 2025 than in the year before.

This is good framing: "carbon pollution".
Better than global heating. "Pollution" implies polluters, with addresses.
It also denies a sense that 'warming' or 'heating' might be okay. No, pollution is a bad thing.

We can't say that any particular #HeatWave is caused by #CarbonPollution. What we can say is that in #Chicago, for example, in the early 1990s, we experienced less than 10 days a year above 93 degrees. Now, we're in the teens. By 2050, we're projected to be close to 40. And scientists can say that *is* because of carbon pollution.
#CarbonFee and dividend policy would charge corporations for their #CarbonPollution, then distribute the money collected back to American households. This would force down carbon pollution while addressing cost increases for middle-class, working-class, and poor people.
This is an excellent initiative & the data collected will help provide a clear picture of public transport needs. The reduction in overall #pollution & #carbonPollution in particular could be very significant. It is also an excellent #costOfLiving reduction. #QLDNews #StevenMiles

#DamRemovals are not always popular. When #Poland removed its first big dam in 2021, most people in the area objected despite risks to their safety due to poor construction, a study found in February.

As #CarbonPollution heats the planet, allowing air to hold more moisture, the risks of extreme rainfall collapsing ageing river barriers is rising.
