CARS IN WELLINGTON
The register of cars completed by the #Wellington City Council of motor vehicles licensed under the Hutt Road Act shows some interesting particulars. The number of cars is 3060 of 167 different makes, of which the #Ford leads the list with 688, #Dodge 343, #Buick 281, #Overland 201, #Chevrolet 185, and #Essex 101, coming next in order of cars over a hundred in number of one make. The first British car to figure on the list is the #Austin with 76, after three other American makes.…
… Fords head the list again in motor delivery vans with 433, but British motor wagons are supreme…
The total number of registrations is :—Motor-cars 3060 ; delivery vans 648 ; motor wagons 204 ; motor-cycles 1039 ; total 4951.
The combined registers of Wellington City, Hutt Borough, Makara County Council and Hutt County Council contain about 10,000 registrations. The registers are either very inaccurate or a large number of owners are evading the new Act, comments “The Radiator.”
