One of my favourite local bands, with a singer I've known since I was a kid and our parents did community theatre together. I grew up north of the Yellowhead (the east-west highway that passes through Edmonton and Jasper, and over into Saskatchewan) myself.

This song was actually originally by another Edmonton band, Jr. Gone Wild, which I've never really gotten into; I don't know if they have any other songs as good as this one, with its clever rhymes and singalong chorus.

The Yellowhead Highway runs through Edmonton, west to Jasper, east to Saskatoon. (Most of Edmonton is south of it, actually, but Grande Prairie, my home town and that of founding Captain Tractor member Chris Wynters, is far to the north.)

This song was originally done by another Edmonton band, Jr. Gone Wild, about which I know relatively little. But this is the version that I have in my collection (and the one on an album with "Yellow" in the name).
