Writing code, mostly to help people charge their electric vehicles. I'm a contributor to the OCPI and OCPP standards in that space.

Riding my bike far away, with a tent and a sleeping bag and all that.

Trying to play a guitar and also a mandolin (doom metal and punk and bluegrass).

Holder of a lot of opinions but at this point I'm trying to keep my mouth shut about those.

Living in Edmonton, Canada. Formerly in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam, Utrecht or Didam.

So while "use UTC internally and local time for display" is often good advice, as a Dutchman living in Canada, you get to notice the cases where it isn't. Like if my birth date is the seventh of the month, don't show it to me as the sixth because our clocks run behind yours. #coding #software

Actively snowing and -12 in broad daylight. Meteorological Spring? My ass!

Anyhow, #yegbike wise it's not bad as the snow is fluffy and you cut right through. Presumably it won't be cold and snowing long enough to build the sort of rutted ice cake that can make winter biking difficult.

#yegbike bike lane clearing: This morning, 96 St in Delton and 119 Ave in Alberta Avenue were cleared. 96 St in McCauley was not (but no problem riding the road there).
#yegbike wise things were very decent today. Went for my first longer ride since the Tuesday snowdump. From Delton to Victoria Park and back. Most non-priority bike lanes are not yet cleared but residential streets are very well packed. Love the winter wonderland with a blue sky and a February sun that is strong enough to make you feel its warmth.

People for Bikes is getting ready for the annual update of their #Cycling City Rankings website. They lean on Open Street Map for lots of their data. You can help keeping the map up to date for #Ottawa and #Gatineau. Read how in my latest post. #ottbike #Biketooter #osm #openstreetmap
