Rokin, as a part of the city’s ‘Red Carpet’, is a well-known street and canal in the center. It runs from Dam Square to Muntplein and was originally part of the Amstel River before being partially filled in during the 19th century. 🏞️

Today, it’s a lively area with lots of shops, cafés, and cultural attractions, including the “Allard Pierson Museum”, canal cruises, and parts of the Amsterdam Metro’s North-South line. 🚇 ⬆️⬇️

The name “Rokin” comes from the old saying: “Ruck-in,” meaning a place where ships used to dock. ⛵️
